A .450 / 400 (3 1/4IN.) BLACK POWDER EXPRESS RIGBY & BISSELL 1879 PATENT PUSH-FORWARD UNDERLEVER SIDELOCK NON-EJECTOR DOUBLE RIFLE, serial no. 15906,
26in. black powder only barrels, raised file cut rib engraved in gothic script 'JOHN RIGBY & CO. DUBLIN & LONDON', open sights with folding leaf sight with white metal sight lines and marked for 150 and 250 yards, ramped bead fore-sight, treble-grip action incorporating J. Rigby and T. Bissell patent rising third bite, patent no. 1141 of 1879, use number 392, the action face numbered 2061, underlever cocking, carved leaf fences, removable striker discs (left striker missing), automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, dipped-edge lockplates, fine acanthus scroll engraving, retaining some colour-hardening and likely renewed finish, light damage to bar forward of right lockplate, 14 5/8in. pistolgrip stock, the pistolgrip of two piece construction and with horn pistolgrip-cap, engraved sling button and chequered steel buttplate, fore-end with Rigby's patent lever release, weight 8lb. 15oz.
